About the event
From March 13 to 15, Irina Viner Palace hosted the 49th International fencing competition Moscow Sabre in memory of two-time Olympic champion Mikhail Burtsev, organized by Moscow City Department of sport together with Russian Fencing Federation.
In 2026, Moscow Sabre competition brought together over 200 athletes from Russia, Belarus, and Azerbaijan.
Olympic, world, and European champion Olga Nikitina won the women’s individual competition for the second time in a row, while Pavel Graudyn, bronze medalist at 2025 European Championships, won the men’s competition for the first time.
In the women’s team competition, the gold medal was won by the 13th-ranked Russian team with Malena Kunasheva, Anfisa Gromova, Anastasia Bazhenova, and Svetlana Sheveleva, while in the men’s team competition, the gold medal was won by the second-ranked Russian team, consisting of Kamil Ibragimov, Dmitriy Danilenko, Oleg Petrovsky, and Vasily Shirshov.
